Activity and screenshots

Turn tracked sessions into records you can review responsibly

ZMorning organizes desktop tracking into ten-minute slots. Each slot can carry minute-level keyboard and mouse counts, screenshots, and task context, while manual time fills gaps without inventing activity. Today brings those records together for the selected employee and date.

What does ZMorning record during a tracked session?

Time is stored in ten-minute slots for the selected employer and task. Keyboard-hit counts, mouse-click counts, and screenshots are added only when the employer's settings enable them. These records show activity volume and visual context; they do not explain intent or measure the quality of the work by themselves.

Understand the parts of a work record

Ten-minute time slot

The basic recorded-time unit on Today. Every stored slot contributes ten minutes to daily and weekly totals.

Minute activity counts

Keyboard hits and mouse clicks are counted by minute when their individual settings are enabled. ZMorning does not record the text that was typed.

Screenshot context

When screenshot tracking is enabled, the desktop app schedules a capture at a randomized point within each active ten-minute interval.

Follow the record from settings to review

  1. Set and communicate tracking preferences

In the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, review screenshot, keyboard-hit-count, and mouse-click-count settings for the employee. Tell the employee what is enabled before tracking begins.

  2. Start the correct desktop session

The employee chooses the employer and task, then selects Start. The desktop app loads that employer's current settings. With multiple displays, the employee also chooses all monitors or the active monitor for that session.

  3. Record and synchronize

While the session runs, the desktop app records activity minutes and captures enabled screenshots. Failed uploads enter local pending queues and are retried after the connection returns.

  4. Review the selected day on Today

Choose the employee and date, then review totals, hourly groups, ten-minute slot cards, activity segments, screenshots, task details, and manual-time records.

  5. Correct the record carefully

Add manual time for genuinely missing work, or use the slot Delete control in the employee view, shown as Employee in ZMorning, when an entire ten-minute record should be removed. Review permanent changes before confirming them.

Interpret ten-minute slots carefully

Green minute segment
At least one keyboard hit or mouse click was recorded for that minute.
Gray minute segment
No enabled keyboard or mouse input was recorded for that minute. It does not prove that no work occurred.
Screenshot thumbnail
An image is available through ZMorning's regular screenshot preview.
Dropbox or Google Drive placeholder
The screenshot record uses connected private storage, so Today identifies the provider instead of displaying the image.
Manually Added
The slot came from the manual-time form. It contributes ten minutes without automatic input activity or a captured screenshot.
Task detail
The slot is connected to the task selected when tracking started. Manual time has no task name to show.

Understand screenshot capture choices

One display

Capture uses the available monitor

The desktop app starts without asking for a multi-monitor capture choice.

Multiple displays

Choose the capture scope at Start

Select All monitors to capture every display or Active monitor only to capture the display ZMorning determines is active at capture time.

Know what corrections change

Add manual time

Create missing slots

The selected range is expanded to ten-minute boundaries and rejected if any resulting slot overlaps existing time.

Delete a slot

Remove the complete record

The employee view, shown as Employee in ZMorning, can permanently remove the ten-minute slot, its activity rows, and every screenshot attached to it.

Change tracker settings

Affect later sessions

New settings load when tracking starts. Turning a setting off does not erase records captured earlier.

Activity & Screenshots guides

Start with Today, then use the focused guides for correction, interpretation, capture, and removal.

The activity workflow is ready when

  • The employee understands which screenshot, keyboard, and mouse settings are enabled.
  • The desktop session is using the correct employer, task, and monitor choice.
  • Recorded slots appear under the intended employee and date on Today.
  • Gray activity and missing screenshots are interpreted as limited signals, not proof that no work happened.
  • Manual additions and permanent deletions are reviewed before they change the record.
