Projects & Tasks

Create and Edit Tasks

Create clear work items, select the right project and workflow details, and safely maintain files, comments, and other task information.

How do I create or edit a task?

Open My Task in the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, or the employee view, shown as Employee. Select Add Task in the group where the work should begin, replace Untitled Task with a clear title, select the correct project, and add any useful details before saving. To edit an active task, open its card in Board view or its row in List view, update the fields, and select Save.

Prepare the project and group first

A task must have both a project and a task group. They describe different parts of the work, so confirm both before creating several tasks.

Project

Controls reporting

The selected project determines where task-linked tracked hours and calculated cost appear.

  • A project must exist before ZMorning can save a task.
  • The project is selected inside the task editor.
  • Changing it does not move the task to another workflow group.

Task group

Controls workflow position

The group determines where the active task appears on the Board and List views.

  • The group comes from the section where you select Add Task.
  • Move the task between groups by dragging it.
  • Moving it does not change its selected project.

Create a task

  1. 1

    Open My Task

Web app: My Task → Board or List

Both views work with the same tasks. Choose whichever view is easier for the work you are entering.

  2. 2

Select Add Task in the intended group

The new task inherits this group. If you start in the wrong group, save the task and drag it to the correct group afterward.

  3. 3

    Enter a clear title

Select Untitled Task or its pencil button, then enter the title. A non-empty title is required before the task can be saved.

  4. 4

Select the project and add useful details

Review Select Project even when ZMorning has already selected the first available project. Add a description, due date, priority, members, or attachments when they make the work clearer.

  5. 5

    Save the task

Select Save and wait for My Task to refresh. The task appears in the group where it was created.

Understand the task fields

Title
Required. Use a short action-oriented name that remains recognizable in My Task and the desktop task selector.
Description
Optional rich text for instructions, context, links, lists, or acceptance details that do not fit in the title.
Members
Optional employees assigned to the task. Assignment controls whose desktop task list can receive the work.
Due Date
Optional target date displayed with the task. It does not start, stop, or complete tracking automatically.
Select Project
Required for saving. It connects task-linked tracked time to the correct project hours and cost.
Priority
Low, Medium, or High. New tasks start at Low unless you choose another value.
Attachments
Optional supporting files. Each individual file can be no larger than 50 MB.
Comments
A discussion area for a task that has already been saved. Comments are separate from the description.

Edit an existing task

Open an active task by selecting its card in Board view or its title in List view. The editor loads the task's current title, description, members, due date, project, priority, attachments, and comments.

  1. Select the title or pencil button to rename the task.
  2. Select the description area or Edit to update its formatted content.
  3. Change the due date, project, priority, members, or attachments as needed.
  4. Select Save to apply the task-field and attachment changes.
ReviewOpen the current task

Check its project and existing details before changing them.

EditUpdate selected fields

The same task record is retained; it is not copied or recreated.

SaveRefresh the shared task

My Task displays the updated information for the selected employer.

Manage attachments and comments

Attachments

Keep supporting files with the task

  • Select Add Files to choose one or more files.
  • Files larger than 50 MB each are rejected.
  • Duplicate newly selected files are skipped.
  • Removing an existing attachment takes effect when you save the task.
  • Available files can be viewed when supported or downloaded.

Comments

Discuss a saved task

  • Save a new task before trying to post its first comment.
  • Use the comments button in the task editor to open or close the panel.
  • A comment cannot be empty.
  • You can edit or delete comments that you authored.
  • New comments notify the manager and assigned members other than the author.

Know who can change or delete tasks

Manager view

Create, edit, and delete

The manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, can create and edit tasks and can use the task deletion control.

Employee view

Create and edit without deletion

The employee view, shown as Employee, can currently create and edit tasks for the selected employer. Destructive task deletion is not available.

Connect the task to desktop tracking

Creating a task does not automatically make it available to every employee. The task must be assigned to the employee, and the desktop app must be using the same employer relationship.

1Create

Save the task with the correct title, project, and workflow group.

2Assign

Add the employee who should perform and track the work.

3Refresh

In the desktop app, select the correct employer and refresh the task list.

4Select

Choose the task before starting work so recorded activity carries its task relationship.

Troubleshooting

The task will not save

Enter a non-empty title and confirm that an available project is selected. If no project exists, create one in the manager view first.

The task is in the wrong group

Save the task, then drag it into the correct workflow group. Moving it does not change the selected project.

An attachment was skipped

Check whether it exceeds 50 MB or is a duplicate of a newly selected file. Choose a smaller or different file and try again.

I cannot post a comment on a new task

Comments need an existing task record. Save the task, reopen it, then post the comment.

The employee cannot find the task in the desktop app

Confirm the employee is assigned, the correct employer is selected in the desktop app, and the task list has been refreshed.

I cannot delete the task

Task deletion is restricted to the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning. The employee view can still edit the task.

Frequently asked questions

Can an employee create or edit a task?

Yes. In the employee view, shown as Employee in ZMorning, an employee can create tasks and edit their details for the selected employer. Task deletion remains restricted to the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning.

Does changing a task's group also change its project?

No. Moving a task changes only its workflow group and order. Its selected project remains unchanged until someone edits the task and selects a different project.

Which task fields are required?

A non-empty title, a valid task group, and an available project are required for saving. Description, members, due date, priority choice, attachments, and comments provide additional context but are not required.

How large can a task attachment be?

Each attachment can be no larger than 50 MB. You can select multiple files, but ZMorning checks the size of every file individually.

Why is the new task missing from an employee's desktop app?

The task must be assigned to that employee under the same employer. After assigning it, select the correct employer in the desktop app and refresh the task list.

Can I restore a deleted task?

No restore action is available in the current interface. Review the task, its files, comments, assignments, and tracking implications before confirming deletion.
