The ZMorning desktop app records an employee's work session for one employer and, when selected,
one assigned task. Check those choices before starting so the resulting time, activity, and screenshots
appear in the right place for review and reporting.
What does the desktop timer record?
From Start until Stop, the app records elapsed work time for the selected
employer. The session is connected to the selected task when there is one; otherwise it is saved without
a task. Keyboard and mouse activity counts and screenshots are collected only when the employer's tracking
settings enable them.
Before you start tracking
A few checks prevent missing tasks and time recorded under the wrong employer.
Use your employee account
Sign in with the email address and password connected to your employee account.
Confirm the employer
If you work for more than one employer in ZMorning, select the one this session belongs to.
Check the task
Wait for assigned tasks to load and verify the visible task. If no valid task is selected, Start records the session without task or project context.
Use a reliable tracking workflow
1
Install and sign in
Download the desktop app for Windows, Mac, or Linux, install it, and sign in through the
Employee Login screen.
2
Select the employer
When your account is linked to multiple employers, choose the employer responsible for this work.
The app can remember a default employer for later sessions.
3
Choose or refresh the task
Wait for the assigned tasks to load, then verify the visible task before starting. If a new assignment
is missing, use Refresh Task List. Only tasks assigned to you for the selected employer are loaded.
4
Select Start
The app loads the employer's current tracking settings. With multiple displays, it asks whether
screenshot capture should use all monitors or the active monitor before tracking begins.
5
Select Stop when the session ends
Stop before a break, before changing employers or tasks, and when the work is finished. Start a
new session when you resume or move to different work.

Start and Stop
Create clear work sessions
ZMorning does not currently have a Pause action in the desktop app.
Select Stop whenever tracked work is interrupted.
Select Start again when work resumes.
Each restarted period is a separate tracking session.
System tray
Control the app while its window is hidden
Closing the desktop window hides it instead of ending the app.
Use the tray menu to start or stop tracking.
Double-click the tray icon to show the window again.
Use Quit only when you intend to close the application.
If the connection drops
When an active tracking session loses its connection, pending activity records and screenshots are stored
on the computer and retried automatically. The app also retries after tracking stops, when the computer
resumes, and at regular intervals while it remains open.
Understand activity and screenshot settings
The manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, controls whether keyboard activity counts,
mouse activity counts, and screenshots are enabled for an employee. Those settings are loaded when tracking starts. ZMorning counts input activity; it does not
use the task selector to change what is captured.
For details about recorded time slots, capture timing, multiple monitors, and screenshot review, continue to
the Activity & Screenshots category.
