Time Tracking
Choose or Refresh a Task
Load assigned work for the selected employer, choose the correct task, and refresh the desktop list when assignments change.
How do I choose or refresh a desktop task?
On Home, open the task selector above the timer and choose the work you are about to do. If an expected assignment is missing or has changed, select the adjacent circular-arrow button labeled Refresh Task List. Confirm the task before selecting Start.
Understand what appears in the task list
The desktop app requests tasks assigned to the signed-in employee and filters them to the selected employer. A task needs both the correct employer and an assignment to that employee before it can appear.
The task is connected to a project and workflow group in the web app.
The assignment connects the employee account to that task.
The desktop app requests assignments belonging to that employer.
The employee can connect the next tracking session to that work.
Choose the task before tracking
-
1
Check the employer
On Home, confirm the name beside You are working for:. The task list depends on this employer.
-
2
Open the task selector
The selector sits above the Task Timer. Review the displayed title even when a task is already selected.
-
3
Select the intended task
Choose the task that describes the work you are about to perform. ZMorning saves that choice for the current employer.
-
4
Start a new session
Select Start only after the employer and task are correct. The app captures both values for the new session.
Refresh after assignments or task details change
Select Refresh Task List, the circular-arrow button beside the task selector, to request the current assignments for the selected employer.
Refresh needed
The available work changed
- A new task was assigned.
- A task was renamed or deleted.
- The employee was assigned or unassigned.
- The selected employer changed.
After refresh
Review the visible selection
- A valid saved task is selected again.
- An unavailable saved task is not restored.
- If other tasks remain, inspect the title shown before Start.
- An empty response leaves no task to select.
Stop before changing or refreshing tasks
The task selector and refresh button remain available while the timer runs, but the active session keeps the task that was captured at Start. A later visual selection does not move time, activity, or screenshots already being recorded.
Current session
Keeps the original task
The running tracker continues to use the employer and task selected when Start was pressed.
Different work
Requires a new session
Select Stop, choose or refresh the next task, verify its title, and select Start again.
Know what happens when no valid task is selected
Start does not require a task ID. If the selector has no valid task when Start is selected, the resulting records are saved for the employer without a task. This can happen while the initial placeholder is still shown, when no assignments are returned, or when the task list could not load.
When assigned tasks successfully load, the initial placeholder is removed and the first available task is selected unless a valid saved task is restored. The current app does not provide a persistent No task option in that loaded list. Always wait for the list and verify its visible value before Start.
Troubleshoot the task list
- The expected task is missing
- Confirm the employer, select Refresh Task List, and ask the employer to verify that the task is assigned to your employee account.
- The task list is empty
- No assigned tasks were returned for this employee and employer. Refresh once, then ask the employer to create or assign the intended task.
- An old task name remains visible
- Select Refresh Task List after the title is changed in the web app.
- A completed task still appears
- The current list does not filter by completion status. The employer can remove your assignment when the task should no longer be selectable.
- A previously selected task was replaced
- The saved task may no longer be assigned or available. Review the current list and deliberately select the correct remaining task.
- The wrong task was selected during tracking
- Stop the timer immediately. Changing the selector does not rewrite the active session; start a new session with the correct task.
