Use Screenshot Capture with Multiple Monitors
Choose all-monitor or active-monitor screenshot capture, understand display selection and fallback, and protect information across multiple screens.
What should I choose when ZMorning detects multiple displays?
Choose All monitors when every connected work display should be included in each capture event. Choose Active monitor only when ZMorning should determine one display at each capture time. Confirm the modal's Start button to begin tracking.
Know when Capture Options appears
One display detected
No modal is shown
ZMorning sets the session mode to All monitors and continues with the single available display.
More than one display detected
Capture Options must be confirmed
Choose All monitors or Active monitor only, then select the modal's Start button.
Start a multi-display session
-
1
Confirm the employer and task
Choose the employer responsible for the work and select the intended task.
-
2
Select Start
ZMorning loads the employer's current tracking settings and checks the connected displays.
-
3
Review Capture Options
Select All monitors or Active monitor only. The previously used choice may already be selected while the app remains open.
-
4
Select Start inside the modal
This second Start confirms the capture mode and allows the tracking session to begin.
-
5
Verify the mode below the timer
Look for Mode: All monitors or Mode: Active monitor.
Compare All monitors and Active monitor only
All monitors
Include every matched display
- ZMorning requests current screen sources when capture occurs.
- It matches those sources to the connected displays.
- One capture event can produce one image record per matched display.
- All images share the event's capture identifier and time context.
Active monitor only
Determine one display at capture time
- The display is resolved again for each randomized capture.
- Moving the pointer or ZMorning window can affect the result.
- The chosen display must match an available screen source.
- Fallback can broaden capture when a source cannot be matched.
How Active monitor only chooses a display
ZMorning resolves the display at the moment each capture is requested.
Use the display nearest the center of a focused ZMorning desktop window.
If no ZMorning window is focused, use the display nearest the current pointer position.
If neither earlier method resolves a display, use the operating system's primary display.
Understand remembered choices and session limits
- Later Start while the app remains open
- The last selected mode is preselected in Capture Options.
- Desktop app restarted
- The in-memory choice is lost and the initial mode returns to All monitors.
- Only one display at Start
- ZMorning skips the modal and sets the mode to All monitors.
- Need a different mode while tracking
- Select Stop, confirm the display arrangement, then begin a new session and choose the new mode.
- Displays connected or disconnected later
- The selected mode remains unchanged, but the screen sources available at capture time can differ.

Uploaded image records from the event are attached to the same ten-minute slot and can appear as gallery thumbnails.
Troubleshoot multi-display capture
- Capture Options is not visible after tray Start
- Restore the hidden ZMorning window. The modal may be waiting there for confirmation.
- Tracking did not begin after the modal closed
- Closing does not confirm a mode. Select Start again and use the modal's Start button.
- The mode reset to All monitors
- The app was restarted or only one display was detected when the session began. Choose Active monitor again on the next multi-display Start.
- Active monitor captured an unexpected display
- Check whether a ZMorning window was focused or where the pointer was positioned at capture time. The primary display and broader source fallback can also apply.
- All monitors produced fewer images than displays
- One or more operating-system displays may not have matched an available capture source. Stop, confirm the display arrangement, and start a new test session.
- The prompt appears but no screenshots arrive
- Confirm the employer's saved screenshot setting. The monitor prompt can appear even when capture is disabled.
