Projects identify where work belongs. Task groups organize how that work moves, and tasks carry the
details employees need to act and track time accurately. Set up all three deliberately so the same
work stays understandable in My Task, the desktop tracker, reports, and billing.
How do projects, groups, and tasks fit together?
Every task belongs to a task group and is connected to a project.
The group controls where the task appears in the My Task workflow; the project connects its tracked
time to the correct project summary, hours, and cost. Assigning members determines who can select the
task in the desktop app for that employer.
Understand the work structure
A project and a task group describe different parts of the same task. In the current My Task interface,
groups are workflow sections shared across the board rather than folders displayed inside one selected project.
1Project
Connects the task to the right body of work, tracked hours, and calculated cost.
2Task group
Places the task in a workflow section such as To Do, In Progress, or Review.
3Members
Connects the task to the employees responsible for doing and tracking the work.
4Trackable task
Appears in the assigned employee's desktop task list for the selected employer.
Start with the project setup ZMorning created
A new manager setup begins with My First Project, three groups named
To Do, In Progress, and Completed, and sample tasks.
These are starting content, not a required structure.
Rename or add projects
Rename My First Project when it matches your real work, or create a separate project when reporting and cost should remain distinct.
Adapt the starter groups
Keep, rename, recolor, or replace the starter groups with stages that reflect how your team actually works.
Replace sample tasks
Use real task titles, select the correct project, and assign the people who will track the work.
Use a reliable workflow
Following the same sequence for new work prevents empty desktop task lists and misclassified time.
1
Choose or prepare the project
Open Projects and decide where the work should be reported. Project names must
contain 3 to 40 characters. Free accounts can have up to two projects.
2
Choose the workflow group
Open My Task. Use an existing group or add one with a clear name and color.
The main Board and List views show active tasks organized by these groups.
3
Create a useful task
A title is required. Select the correct project and add a description, due date, priority,
attachments, or comments when they help someone understand or complete the work.
4
Assign the responsible members
Add each employee who should receive the task. Newly assigned employees receive a task-assignment
email, and the task becomes available in their desktop task list for this employer.
5
Move and complete the work
Move active tasks between groups as their workflow changes. Mark finished tasks complete, then
use Completed Tasks when you need to review or reopen them.

Projects
Organize and review bodies of work
Each project card summarizes its age, task totals, completion status, tracked hours, and calculated cost.
Both the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, and the employee view, shown as Employee in ZMorning, can review available projects.
The manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, can create, rename, and delete projects.
The last remaining project cannot be deleted.
My Task
Manage the work itself
Use Board or List view to work with groups and active tasks. ZMorning remembers the selected view for the signed-in account.
Open a task to review or edit its project, members, details, files, and comments.
Move a task between groups without changing its selected project.
Use Completed Tasks for finished work and reopening.
Projects & Tasks guides
Start with projects, then follow the guides in the order that matches the work you are preparing.
