Understand the Today Page
Learn how to filter ZMorning Today and review daily totals, ten-minute time slots, activity signals, screenshots, tasks, and available actions.
What does the Today page show?
Today organizes one employee's recorded work for one selected date. It combines daily totals, estimated earnings, ten-minute slots, activity signals, screenshots, task details, and manual time in a single timeline. Despite its name, the page can display earlier or later dates too.

Read the three summary cards
Counts every stored ten-minute slot for the selected employee and date, including automatic and manual slots.
- Six slots equal one hour.
- A slot counts even if its activity segments are gray.
- First and last tracked times appear when the records provide usable activity or manual-time boundaries.
Compares all recorded slots in the week containing the selected date with the employee's weekly contract hours.
- Shows only time above the weekly contract.
- Displays zero when the contract has not been exceeded.
- Depends on the employee's saved contract hours.
Applies the relevant saved hourly-rate history to recorded slots on the selected date.
- Can reflect more than one rate when a rate changed.
- Explains when no hourly rate is set.
- Is an estimate, not an invoice or payment status.
Read the tracked-slot timeline
Today groups recorded work under hourly headings. Each card beneath an hour represents one stored ten-minute slot.
- Hour heading
- Shows the clock-hour range and the total number of recorded ten-minute slots inside that hour.
- Thumbnail area
- Shows an available screenshot, a private-storage placeholder, or an empty frame when the slot has no screenshot.
- Ten activity segments
- Each segment represents a minute position in the slot. Green means recorded keyboard or mouse input for that minute; gray does not mean the slot is missing.
- Time label
- Shows when the ten-minute slot begins.
- Manually Added badge
- Identifies a slot created with the manual-time workflow rather than the desktop timer.
- Delete control
- Appears on slot cards only in the employee view, shown as Employee in ZMorning, and removes the entire slot after confirmation.
Open screenshot and activity details
Select a slot that contains at least one screenshot. The detail modal shows the screenshot gallery, the hour range, selected task, and a minute-by-minute table of keyboard and mouse counts.
Preview available
Review the captured image
Choose among the screenshot thumbnails when a slot contains captures from more than one display or upload.
Private storage
See a provider placeholder
Dropbox and Google Drive records show where the image was saved, but Today does not display the private image preview.
Understand the actions available on Today
Available in both views
Add manual time
Creates ten-minute manual slots for the visible employee. ZMorning rejects a range that overlaps existing tracked time.
Employee view only
Delete a slot
Removes the selected slot, its activity, and its screenshots permanently after confirmation.
Allow live and delayed records to refresh
While the Today tab is visible, ZMorning checks for changed slots about every 30 seconds. It also checks again when you return to a visible tab. New, changed, and removed slots can update without a full page reload.
Troubleshoot the Today page
- No activity recorded
- Confirm the selected employee and work date. If tracking happened offline, reconnect the desktop app and allow delayed records to synchronize.
- I cannot select another employee
- This is expected in the employee view, shown as Employee in ZMorning. Switch to the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, to review another linked employee.
- A slot counts time but all segments are gray
- The slot exists, but it has no minute with recorded keyboard or mouse input. Activity may have been disabled, there may have been no input, or the slot may be manual.
- A screenshot preview is replaced by a cloud message
- The image is stored through Dropbox or Google Drive. Today identifies the provider instead of displaying that private image.
- First or last tracked time shows --
- Recorded slots can exist without an active-minute marker. Worked Today still counts those stored ten-minute slots.
- The earnings amount is zero
- Check whether an hourly rate is configured for the employee and whether the selected date contains recorded slots.
