View and Filter Reports
Learn to use ZMorning Overview date, employee, project, and table filters while identifying which report figures each control actually changes.
How do you filter a ZMorning report?
Open Overview, then change the From date, To date, employee when available, or project. ZMorning refreshes the report automatically; there is no Apply button. Read the refreshed result carefully because the project and date controls do not affect every figure in the same way.
Open the report
-
1
Sign in to the web app
Use the manager or employee account view associated with the records you need to review.
-
2
Select Overview
Overview is ZMorning's current reporting dashboard; there is no separate Reports page.
-
3
Confirm the account view
Check whether you are using the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, or the employee view, shown as Employee in ZMorning.
-
4
Review the current scope
Before comparing figures, note the dates and whether All Employees, one employee, All Projects, or one project is selected.
Understand automatic refresh
Each filter change schedules a new Overview request. While it loads, the report shows a refreshing state and then replaces the headline figures, charts, and employee rows with the newest result.
- Change one control and wait for the refreshing indicator to finish.
- There is no Apply, Search, or Submit button for the main filters.
- If several controls are changed quickly, use the final visible selections as the report scope.
- Do not compare an old figure with a newly selected filter while the dashboard is still refreshing.
Choose a date range
Free plan
Start with the latest 14 days
The default includes today and the preceding 13 days. A shorter range can be used when it still ends today. A request that starts earlier or ends on another date is reset to the latest 14 days.
ZMorning Pro
Start with the latest 30 days
The default includes today and the preceding 29 days. Custom longer and historical date ranges are available.
Pro- Select the first included day in From.
- Select the last included day in To.
- Keep From earlier than or equal to To.
- Wait for the report to refresh, then confirm the dates still shown in both controls.
Filter by employee
Manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning
Choose all employees or one employee
All Employees includes the linked team. Choosing one employee limits tracked time, bill, productivity, task assignment results, project-hour data, and the employee table to that person.
Employee view, shown as Employee in ZMorning
Your employee scope is automatic
Overview uses the signed-in employee's records for the selected employer. The team employee selector is not shown, and another employee cannot be selected from this view.
Filter by project
The project control uses projects belonging to the selected employer. Choose All Projects to show every named project series, or choose one project to narrow the named series and the task figures.
Changes with project
Project chart and tasks
- The selected named project is used in Working Hours Distribution.
- Tasks Completed and the completion chart use tasks from that project.
- Employee-table completed-task counts use that project scope.
Does not change with project
Headline time and billing
- Total Working Hours remains across projects.
- Total Bill or Total Earnings remains across projects.
- Avg. Productivity and employee hours remain across projects.

Search and page through the employee table
The search box above Employee Productivity matches employee names within the rows already returned by the main filters. The table sorts those rows alphabetically and shows five per page.
- Enter part of an employee name to narrow the visible rows.
- Use Previous, Next, or a page number when more than five matching rows are available.
- Clear the search box to restore all rows returned by the main report filters.
- Table search does not recalculate headline figures, charts, or Avg. Productivity.
Move from a summary to detailed records
Overview is designed for totals and comparisons. When a result needs investigation, use the page that owns the underlying record.
- Ten-minute time, activity, or screenshots
- Open Today, then select the employee and work date.
- Project or task status
- Open the relevant project and task rather than treating the Overview chart as task history.
- Employee contract or rate
- In the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, open Employees and review the employee's saved details.
- Completed billing period
- In the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning, open Invoices and inspect the invoice record and PDF.
Troubleshoot report filters
- The dates changed back to the latest 14 days
- The employer is using the Free plan and the requested range fell outside its allowed recent-history window or did not end today.
- The report is empty after changing dates
- Confirm that From is not later than To, then check whether tracked slots exist for that employee and period.
- The employee selector is missing
- It appears only in the manager view, shown as Client in ZMorning. The employee view, shown as Employee in ZMorning, is automatically limited to the signed-in employee.
- A project selection did not change Total Working Hours
- This matches the current calculation. The project control narrows named chart and task data, not the headline time total.
- Tasks Completed did not change with the dates
- The current task figures use task status, employee assignment, and project scope; they do not use the report date range.
- Employee search did not change the charts
- The search box filters only the Employee Productivity rows already loaded into the table.
Common questions
Where is the Reports page in ZMorning?
Overview is ZMorning's current reporting dashboard. It contains the date, employee, and project controls together with headline metrics, charts, and the Employee Productivity table.
Why did ZMorning change my selected dates?
The Free plan allows recent Overview history ending today and starting no earlier than 13 days before today. A request outside that window is reset to the latest 14 days.
Does selecting a project filter Total Working Hours and Total Bill?
No. The current project control narrows named project chart data and task figures. Headline tracked time, bill or earnings, Productivity, and employee hours remain across projects.
Why does Unassigned remain after I select a project?
The current Working Hours Distribution chart retains Unassigned alongside the selected named project. It represents manual time without task attribution or time linked to a task without a project and should not be added to the selected project's hours.
Does searching the employee table filter the whole report?
No. Employee-table search matches names only within the loaded rows. It does not recalculate headline figures, charts, or Avg. Productivity.
Where can I inspect the individual records behind a time total?
Open Today and choose the employee and work date to review hourly groups, ten-minute slots, activity segments, screenshots, tasks, and manual-time markers.
